Course description

This interactive course is aimed at physiotherapists and occupational therapists who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in specialized manual therapy techniques to significantly improve the quality of movement in patients with neurological conditions such as stroke and traumatic brain injury. The focus is on practical applications combined with in-depth specialist knowledge.

After successfully completing the course, participants will be able to

  • Recall and list the basic principles of manual therapy for neurological disorders.
  • Understand and describe the pathophysiological basis of hypertonus and spasticity and their effects on the quality of movement.
  • Analyzing and evaluating movement restrictions in patients in order to derive individual therapy approaches.
  • Performing and adapting manual therapy techniques to improve mobility in neurological patients.

  • Introduction to manual therapy for neurological disorders.
  • In-depth study of the anatomy and pathophysiology of spasticity and hypertonus.
  • Practical techniques for mobilizing joints and soft tissue.
  • Promoting patients’ self-mobilization and self-efficacy through guided exercises.

The course places a strong focus on practical implementation. Through a combination of short lectures and intensive practical exercises based on direct application with a partner, participants recognize that movement restrictions are a widespread phenomenon. This experience promotes a deep understanding of the patient’s individual challenges and supports the development of customized therapeutic approaches.

Physiotherapists and occupational therapists who have completed vocational training are eligible.
